Really, though, you can start with the basics and still get some awesome improvements in your health and symptoms.

The first 7 or 8 superfoods should be easily available to you so go ahead and begin with those.  They help balance blood sugar, reduce cravings for sugar or chocolate, help keep you feeling full longer and work on female sex hormone production and balance.

Where Do I Get the Rest?

This is a question I get asked a lot.  And, this is really the whole reason for sharing this information with you here!

From Goji berries to MCT oil to Schizandra powder, it can be really hard to know where to look for this stuff.

To help you out and let you in on a little secret of mine…I buy most of this stuff online.

Here in Canada, I love to shop at National Nutrition.  This place has a huge stock of all kinds of great, holistic-nutrition approved brands. When you buy $79 worth of products, shipping is free, too.

Plus, I honestly find their prices on par or cheaper than any I’ve ever seen in stores.  Even sale prices.  So, you really can’t go wrong.

Or, check out Amazon.  If National Nutrition or my local stores don’t have something, I can almost always find it on Amazon!

Otherwise, you should be able to find all these products in any local health food store or even in your supermarket!

FAQ: What is MCT Oil?  Which one do I buy?

MCT oil is beginning to frequent most health food stores and online shops.  BUT, with popularity comes copycats.  So, it’s a good idea to check for reputable, good-quality brands and buy those.

After all, the lesser quality ones are as rancid as processed vegetable oils.  And your body doesn’t want that.  That can cause more inflammation!

A couple of brands I love are Bulletproof and Sports Research.  Onnit, Left Coast Performance or Viva Naturals are also top-rated brands.

Note that there is also something called “MCT oil powder”. This is a powdered form of the medium-chain triglycerides found naturally in MCT oil (this is from coconuts). Because it’s one step away from its natural state, so the powder does contain additives.  If this is a concern, avoid it.

FAQ: What the heck is Schizandra Berry Powder anyway?

Schizandra berries contain seeds with lignans, or fibre. They aren’t typically eaten because they don’t really taste very good raw!  So, ancient Eastern medicine gurus have been using them to help improve symptoms.

You can actually find schizandra in powder, liquid or pill form.  I prefer powdered form for my smoothies; sometimes I’ll buy the pills and break them apart and sprinkle the powder from them into a smoothie.  But, if all you can find is liquid, use that. A little bit goes a very long way!

One major health benefit for women is to use schizandra to relieve menopausal symptoms.  Daily usage can help reduce hot flashes and night sweats.

Plus, schizandra berry powder is known to help you manage your stress response better!

Your Next Superfood

When it comes to ditching those annoying cravings, boosting that all-day energy and taking back control of your health, your hormones do need to be balanced.

Including the right superfoods into your diet daily (to start) will actually make it so much easier to avoid the dessert buffet.  Or, at the very least, help you stop at just one small treat!

I’ve personally been swapping in and out maca, schizandra, camu camu, raw cacao powder and ashwagandha for over two years.  I basically have no cravings and I travel the world without worrying about eating too much or overindulging.  My body simply doesn’t WANT the wrong or too many foods!
